MicroBrewery / Eatery

After completing a previous masterplanning project for the whole of the Baltic Triangle in Liverpool, individuals from the group chose a specific building to design and give purpose to. The Baltic Fleet sat isolated in a central island that acted as a key node and pivotal point to our scheme. I aimed to give purpose to a building adjacent to the Baltic Fleet that encouraged and extended its microbrewery that was within the original pub. Combining a brewery and eatery within the proposed building.

Masterplan

East Copperfields

Located in the outer cusp of Leeds City centre, an abandoned landscape, sat between residential and industrial context. This was a whole year project, whereby the masterplan was divided up between groups and each given an allocated building type. Ours was a residential plot bounded by residential properties and an expansive green space.

Educational

Green School

Following on from the previous school project featured below, this  took an individuals work all the way to construction and detail stages. It was exactly the same site but a different concept and a joint idea. The school has 3 key elements, its parent structure, its modular classroom system and selective ceramic shading.

Educational

Kirkdale School.
A Science School

I proposed that Kirkdale School would encompass the social aims set out by both the eldonian society whom lived adjacent to the proposed site and also the green issues of the Liverpool Green Party.

The school sits in a unique position alongside a canal, next to a rail line and sandwiched between residential and industrial context. I chose to encourage two ideas, one of functionality and one of pure expression through the material composite that I discovered from the site. These two ideas manifested into the proposed scheme.

Thesis

Belfast Martyrium

Located on the outskirts of Belfast City Centre, lies the westlink, an intentional mistake of the 1980s to seperate and control Belfasts tensioned population. We sought out an architectural intervention which would enhance this so called 'no mans land' and provide this area with a purpose. This came together as an archive of secatrian relics housed in martyria, based on the ideas of a nearby cemetery.
